l. a. Rebelde marks the 1st printing of the unique Spanish-language model of the memoir written through a innovative girl, Leonor Villegas de Magnón (1876-1955). Villegas de Magnón used to be a fiery critic of dictator Porfirio Díaz and a conspirator and player within the Mexican Revolution. She rebelled opposed to the beliefs of her aristocratic category and opposed to the normal function of ladies in her society. In 1910 Villegas de Magnón moved from Mexico to Laredo, Texas, the place she persevered helping the revolution as a member of the Junta Revolucionaria (Revolutionary Council) and as an incisive editorialist in Laredo newspapers. In 1913, she based los angeles Cruz Blanca (The White Cross), a corps of nurses for the progressive forces lively from the border quarter to Mexico urban. many girls from either side of the border risked their lives and left their households to help the revolution. Years later, even if, whilst their participation remained unacknowledged and was once operating the danger of being forgotten, Villegas de Magnón determined to jot down her own account of this heritage.
